an afternoon meeting.

The emerald grass

Tickled my skin

As you began to

Come into my view

I shaded my eyes

And told my heart to

Wait – do not fall

You spoke not very long

Until your hands were

Upon my face, admiring the

Highest point of my cheekbones

The violet flowers below

Formed a dainty

Wedding bouquet

As the sun moved inside

An easy spring noon

You took my mouth to yours

In power -without asking

And my earth spun new

Within your gorgeous

Audacity.

sweet things need repeating.

When the sun shines like God

Upon an afternoon field of

Wildflowers

I trace your face with my

Small finger

And you pull my ankles

Until I gasp

Breathing slowly in and out

Upon you

Upon me

As the moment

Attaches to a petal breeze

Leaving a crimson path

And then – in time

It rains.

once, you loved me.

I never wished you

Any sorrow as you

Walked away from me

I had just set my

Forgiveness in your hand

Closing your fingers

One by one

And when I was done

You kissed me like

Pity and I took it the same

You shut the door

To find your voyage

I could see you free the sail

Each plan crashing in the sunlight

As your eyes relayed the pleasure

Over the vacancy of me – too filled

I bore an ache as deep

As one can without death

But my heart still pardoned you

Knowing there would be no good

In being merciless to the

Very soul

Who once

Only loved me.
